Laila is an editor, writer, scholar, and translator born in Havana and based in New York. She holds a Ph.D. in French Literature from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York and is currently Consulting Editor at Contemporary Conservation, Ltd.
From 2015 - 2017 Laila was Managing Editor at the Brooklyn Rail. Her writing has appeared in the Brooklyn Rail, n+1, Hyperallergic, The Good Men Project, The Feminist Wire, the Miami Rail, and Idiom, among others. She is presently at work on a book about the artistic and literary connections between Cuba, France, and the Francophone Caribbean.
